Natural Products Expo Asia (NPEA), the leading exhibition for natural, organic and healthy living products and ingredients, closed its most successful show to date, August 25, 2012, with 9379 visitors from across 57 countries and regions. Since the inauguration of Natural Products Expo Asia in 2002, this show has been integral in the growth of Asia’s organic and natural products market.
The 3-day show gather over 250 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions, showcasing over 5,000 types of quality exhibits ranging from food & beverage, dietary supplement, natural and raw ingredients, cosmetics and skin care products, eco-living, spa products and supplies.
The global health and nutrition industry, as evaluated by Nutrition Business Journal, is in great shape. This market is now at USD 320billion, growing 7 per cent per year, with the highest rate of growth being in natural and organic sector. Apart from China, the upsurging ASEAN market also comes into spotlight. “Sales of health supplements and functional foods are about USD 4.8billion and is expected to grow by at least 10 per cent year over year, for the foreseeable future,” said Ferdinand Boedi Poerwoko Dr., Ir., Vice Chairman of ASEAN Alliance of Health Supplement Associations.
Exhibiting area of NPEA 2012 reached 6,000sqm; 11 country pavilions were set up which was the most successful edition so far. Pavilions of Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, U.K. and U.S. enjoyed the positive response from buyers as well as its special booth design. An impressive number of exhibitors have reserved their booth for 2013 show, such as Premier International Marketing Ltd., Olive Lifescience Pvt. Ltd., Nature’s Care Australia, Health Factor Foods Co., Ltd. and more. Country Pavilions such as the U.S. Pavilion, Singapore Pavilion and Australian Pavilion have also been confirmed.
Integrated Market Demand to Win Overwhelming Response from Buyers & Exhibitors
Ms. Sandy Dobronte, Director of TRIVITA (U.S.) commented, “The purpose of our participation is to introduce Nopalea into Asia market, and the objective is well being achieved. We received many orders from distributors, mostly from Hong Kong, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore, etc. I enjoy my first time participation and presentation at Open Forum.” Another U.S. exhibitor, Mr Neal Cohane from REED’S Inc. considers NPEA as its debut platform of promotion non-alcohol ginger beer. He says, “I don’t expect Asian buyers are such interested in our products. Customers are from China, Cambodia, Taiwan or even South Africa. The organizer is professional and the venue is very convenient.”
Meanwhile, NPEA 2012 is complimented by trade buyers across the globe. “I have attended Expo Asia since its 8th edition. Pharmaceuticals and Supplement market is huge and potential in China. Unlike other shows in China, Expo Asia is truly an international exhibition and our members can get the latest market information as well as technology and trends of product development. Co-located Events Add to NPEA’s Appeal
Running in conjunction with NPEA, the Nutracon Asia Conference covered key segments from Healthy Aging - Functional Food & Supplement, Healthy Aging - Personal Care & Cosmetic, Organic and Market Access & Focus. This co-location garnered overwhelming feedback from distributors, suppliers and other industry professionals. “The healthy-aging workshop is excellent, speakers are well-prepared and I can obtain valuable information.” said Milagrosa S. Cuadra, President of BIO-NORMALIZER NUTRACEUTICAL CORP. (Philippines).
16 Healthy Kitchen and Open Forum sessions attracted thousands of visitors eager to learn the making of healthy recipes as well as the latest business and trends. Jeff Crowther from US-China Health Products Association gave an overview of China’s Dietary Supplement related regulations while Ms Denise Tam from JIREH INTERNATIONAL (HK) demonstrated the delicious cooking with healthy oils.
To facilitate the connection between exhibitors and buyers, apart from Welcome Reception (sponsored by New Zealand Trade & Enterprise) and Opening Breakfast, the organizers firstly collaborated with United States of America – Department of Commerce, Agricultural Trade Office – U.S. Consulate General Hong Kong to hold a cocktail networking on second show day. These activities offer a relaxing atmosphere for attendees to mingle and network with industry players, association heads and get to know each other.
