Curbing plastic pollution
Forty per cent of the 8 million tonnes of plastic waste generated each year comes from single-use packaging. In India, this waste is concentrated in highly dense urban areas where plastic pollution disrupts urban ecology and infrastructure.
The bulk of the plastic waste generated is not collected, segregated or recycled in the country; this ends up polluting water sources and soil, harming the urban ecosystem and eventually leaking into the natural environment.
Finding a sustainable way to deal with the growing plastic problem has never before been more critical in the country, particularly thin-film packaging plastics that have low recycling value.
Rudra Environmental Solutions, with the help of Blue Planet, provides a solution to this problem and has been recognised for its effort to do so in an innovative and environmentally positive way.
Prashant Singh, CEO, Blue Planet said, “Rudra has been a pioneer in finding solutions for end-of-life plastic, especially thin plastic, which traditionally has no or low monetary value. They align perfectly to Blue Planet’s strategy of creating a socially inclusive and end-to-end waste management platform for solving the ever-growing waste crisis. We are looking forward to expanding our plastic recycling projects across South-East Asia.”
