SolarEdge launches next generation PV power optimizer

The power optimizers will be presented for the first time at the trade fair Intersolar Europe in June

SolarEdge Technologies announced today that it will introduce its next generation power optimizer featuring the new “IndOP” technology. Unlike other power optimizers on the market, the new SolarEdge power optimizer can be installed without the need for additional interface hardware and can operate directly with any inverter. This patent pending technology removes interface hardware as an obstacle to the widespread installation of power optimizers. Therefore, a significant increase in the total available market is expected. SolarEdge will present the new product to the public for the first time during the world´s largest solar energy trade fair, Intersolar Europe in Munich, Germany, in June.

“To date, we have brought to the market over one million power optimizers. With our new generation power optimizer, we are taking the next step towards power optimization becoming mainstream in solar PV arrays. We also succeeded in reducing the number of parts compared to previous models by 50%, which allowed us to design a much smaller product with increased durability and efficiency,” said Lior Handelsman, Vice President Product Strategy and Business Development. “IndOP makes it much easier to introduce smart modules with integrated SolarEdge technology into the market and even old PV arrays may now be upgraded more easily with our power optimizers, minimizing power losses due to uneven degradation and increasing mismatches.”

Highest known efficiency and easier installation
The new SolarEdge power optimizer offers the highest known peak efficiency in the industry of 99.5% and 98.9% weighted efficiency. It creates higher yields in both shaded and unshaded scenarios and can adjust the current of each PV module individually eliminating any form of mismatch. It is also certified in the IP68 protection class, providing excellent protection against water and dust. The new power optimizers are also equipped with a new mounting bracket that allows for a considerably shorter installation time.

Additional benefits
The new power optimizers will provide all of the known SolarEdge benefits. These include: ease of site design and installation, reduction of balance of system costs, increased safety and module-level PV monitoring. SolarEdge power optimizers can also be installed with a broad range of SolarEdge PV inverters especially suitable to work with the company’s power optimizers.

SolarEdge at Intersolar Europe
SolarEdge will be presenting its expanded product portfolio and services from June 13-15 at the trade fair Intersolar Europe in Hall C3 at Stand 110. Lior Handelsman, Vice President Product Strategy and Business Development, will be presenting the SolarEdge next generation power optimizer, which has been nominated for the Intersolar Innovation Award, in the Innovation Exchange in Hall B3, Stand 450 on each day of the trade fair at 11:30 a.m. On June 13 at 14:00, SolarEdge cordially invites all journalists to a press conference.
