What do sustainability chiefs talk about when they meet for the first time?

In a new video series, Eco-Business Conversations: Sustainability One on One, two of Asia’s most influential sustainability leaders quiz each other about the challenges they face in doing their jobs.

The first episode features a conversation between Dr Simon Lord, the chief sustainability officer of Malaysian palm oil company Sime Darby Plantation, and Pamela Mar, director of sustainability for Hong Kong-based apparel and textiles firm Fung Group.

The pair met in Singapore at the unveiling of the inaugural Eco-Business A-List, a who’s who of the region’s corporate sustainability circuit, in December.

In this 10-minute dialogue, Lord, a champion of sustainable palm oil over a 30-year career in the sector, talked to Mar, who’s pushing for better career opportunities for garment factory workers, about dealing with activists, blockchain, the era of hyper-transparency and the value of patience.
