Scaling Up Impact @ AVPN Conference 2014

Championing better ways for businesses and foundations to tackle sustainability and development challenges.

Following successful workshops in the UK, US and India, Forum for the Future and Shell Foundation are hosting a “Scaling Up Impact” session as part of the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) Conference 2014 in Singapore on 16 May 2014.

We understand that organisations like yours are seeking to tackle complex sustainability and development challenges. “Scaling Up Impact” is a joint initiative to better understand the role of market-based solutions in addressing development and sustainability challenges, and to find ways to scale up the most effective approaches to achieve greater impact.

“Social innovation does not happen easily and achieving scale or replication at an industry level is rare. If you want to achieve lasting global impact you need to take a systemic approach to test new ideas and to build new markets around those that work – and that means looking beyond short-term projects to far more effective forms of cross-sector collaboration.”
- Chris West, Director, Shell Foundation

How are others using the insights from this project?

Many participants are exploring ways to apply the insights and tools from the project, both within their own organisations and in collaboration with others.

For example, Unilever are applying the project findings to tackling food waste in the US. C&A and Unilever are sharing learning on building more sustainable supply chains and Shell Foundation are seeking ways to apply it to their strategy for access to energy.
