Ann Moey has moved on from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) after three and a half years to join the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) as Asia head of philanthrophy.

In her role, Moey will be responsible for developing a pipeline of philanthropic supporters, including corporations, foundations and family offices for the non-profit, which was founded by the former United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair in 2016.

TBI provides strategy and policy advice to governments on how to address key societal challenges. In Southeast Asia, the institute’s projects include how governments can use technology to scale alternative proteins and build smart cities in climate-vulnerable countries.

In a post on LinkedIn, Moey said that leaving the UN Refugee Agency was not an easy decision, “since supporting and protecting refugees and the forcibly displaced is now more important than ever.”

Moey will continue to work for UNHCR in August, before moving on to her new role in September.

The Singaporean joined UNHCR after a long stint with conservation group International Union for Conservation of Nature, where she was head of communications based in Bangkok.

Over her career, Moey has worked for renewables firm Sunlabob, the Lao Football Federation, disaster relief charity Mercy Relief, and Singapore Press Holdings as a journalist.
