The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has drawn huge response from technology providers, consultancy firms and Indian entrepreneurs to the invitation of bids for development of its Solid Waste Management Project at Taloja, according to a report by India Infoline.
The MMRDA will be implementing the Regional Solid Waste Management Project at Taloja on Public-Private Partnership module.
The scope of the project includes construction and operation of processing 2000 tonnes of municipal solid waste per day with the arrangement to handle solid waste up to 2500 tonnes per day.
Furthermore Mr.M.R.Shah, Principal Advisor, Solid Waste Management Cell, MMRDA, explained that the project will also require the setting up of scientific landfill.
The facility will serve four Municipal Corporations of Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli, Ulhasnagar and Bhiwandi-Nizampur and two Municipal Councils of Ambarnath and Kulgaon-Badlapur.
A total of 184 potential bidders, both Indian and international, are reported to have downloaded the bid documents in the last three weeks.
International firms from the U.S., UK and Singapore, along with the consulates of Italy, Japan and China are also said to have indicated their willingness to participate in the bidding process.
Some of the companies’ said to have shown interest include Veolia, Jindal, Larsen & Toubro, Berjoya Group, A2Z Infrastructure Ltd.,Antony Waste, Pratibha Industries and Hindustan Construction Co.
