China’s nuclear capacity is projected to cover 10 per cent of the world’s total by 2015. According to the chairman of the China Nuclear Energy Association Zhang Huazhu, by 2015, China would have 41 operating nuclear power units with an installed capacity of 42 gigawatts. At present, China is generating 3.5 per cent of the world’s nuclear power from its six power plants and 15 working nuclear power units. Zhang said with the industry’s good performance and their focus on choosing good locations, they are hoping to avoid the mistakes of Fukushima in Japan in 2011.
