Energy-hungry Asian nations to drive uranium prices

The uranium market may be slacking right now but the growing energy demand from fast-growing Asian nations will soon remedy that. Emerging economies China and India’s pursuit of uranium for their nuclear power programmes are leading this Asian drive. India is planning to build 12 new reactors by 2021 and has recently agreed to buy uranium from Canada. China, on the other hand, has recently reaffirmed their commitment to making nuclear power a key component of the country’s energy mix. China aims to increase its installed nuclear capacity from around 12 million kilowatts to 40 million kilowatts by 2015.
