Ellie Tang has joined investment firm Fidelity International as director of sustainable investing, based in Hong Kong.

She makes the switch from real estate, infrastructure and hotels conglomerate New World Development, where she has led sustainability operations for the Hong Kong-headquartered firm for the past six years.

In her role as sustainability investment director, Tang will help drive the integration of sustainability into Fidelity’s real estate investments, work with the company’s research team on proprietary ratings, and develop sustainability policies and product offerings.

She will report to Fidelity’s Singapore-based global head of stewardship and sustainable investing, Jenn-Hui Tan.

During her time with New World Development, Tang launched the company’s group sustainability function, drove the company’s 2030 sustainability vision, and spearheaded the real estate sector’s first US-dollar sustainability linked bond. She was also behind the creation of Nature Discovery Park, Hong Kong’s first urban biodiversity museum and education centre.

Over her career, she also worked at real estate investment firm Link Asset Management and HSBC, where she was manager of corporate sustainability for the Asia Pacific region.
