King and Flinders Islands in Tasmania, Australia will get fresh funding for renewable energy projects in a bid to slash the state government’s subsidy for diesel-fueled electricity generation. The Tasmanian government said they have also increased the upper limit for the projects. The state subsidy for electricity currently runs between $6 million to $8 million a year. King and Flinders Islands relies heavily on expensive and polluting diesel fuel.
