The chief executive of sustainability standards body Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Tim Mohin, has left the organisation after three years at the helm to join carbon footprint management platform Persefoni as executive vice president and chief sustainability officer.

Mohin takes on a newly created role at the startup, which was founded by two former oil and gas executives at the start of 2020 to make carbon reporting easier for large companies.
Mohin said in a press release that current methods for reporting carbon emissions are labour intensive, complex and outdated, and Persefoni provided a carbon management tool that helped big business better manage its impact.
Bringing 30 years of experience in sustainability to the role, Mohin has spent much of his career developing strategies to embed sustainability into business for the likes of Intel, Apple and Advanced Micro Devices.
He also led the development of environmental policy, including the Clean Air Act, working working for the Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Senate.
He will relocate from Amsterdam to the United States to take on the new role.
GRI has confirmed that the recruitment for a replacement for Mohin is ongoing.
