Helen Cheng, a Singapore-based architect, has been hired by professional services consultancy firm Turner & Townsend, as associate director, sustainability and net zero.

She joins a consultancy that works for clients in the real estate, infrastructure and natural resources sectors, and has a mission to deliver green and inclusive projects.
She will be based in Singapore, which is Turner & Townsend’s regional headquarters for Southeast Asia.
Singapore is working towards a target of greening 80 per cent of its buildings by 2030, by improving energy efficiency, sourcing greener materials, and designing “super low energy” buildings.
Cheng brings more than 25 years of architectural experience in Australia and Singapore to the role. She has worked on building design projects in Australia, Singapore, China, India and Bangladesh.
She recently took a career break to develop her academic knowledge in urban environmental management, with a focus on Singapore’s urban, climate change and carbon policies.
Over her career, she has worked for the likes of Singapore-based architecture practice WOHA, and Lab Architecture Studio, Hayball, Williams Ross Architects, and Wood Marsh Architecture in Austraila.
She has also worked extensively in academia, as a design tutor and advisor for Singapore University of Technology & Design, the University of Melbourne, and National University of Singapore.
