Stephan Ulrich, manager of an International Labour Organisation (ILO) programme to improve productivity and working conditions in supply chains in Vietnam, is relocating to Europe to take on a new global role with the United Nations agency.

Ulrich brings to an end more than four years in Hanoi, where he was regional manager of the Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) initiative, which works to improve productivity and working conditions in small and medium enterprises through training and consulting. During his time in Vietnam, he worked with 250 factories to improve productivity and decent work.
He moves to ILO’s headquarters in Geneva and a new position as global programme manager of an initiative called Productivity Eco-systems for Decent Work. The programme aims to address the root causes of low productivity, such as gender inequality, in developing countries. It will be piloted in South Africa, Ghana and Vietnam.
Ulrich has worked for ILO for more than 16 years, spending time in Ghana, Switzerland and Thailand, working on promoting responsible business practices and sustainable supply chains.
Prior to ILO, Ulrich has worked for the German Committee Future Earth in Berlin, the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean in Chile, and the German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Budapest.
