India pushes for more discussions on climate funding in Doha

India wants finance and technology issues to be pushed up the agenda at the upcoming climate talks in Doha, Qatar. In its latest submission to the UN, India has demanded a more comprehensive round of talks - one that should not only focus on the reduction of carbon emissions. It said issues about climate funding and technology transfers are closer to the interests of poorer nations.  These latest comments reflect India’s growing concern that developed countries would push for discussions on reducing emissions in a bid to delay further talks on finance and technology transfers from the rich economies to the poorer nations.
