The government has called on businessmen to support the national food resilience program by investing in the agricultural sector.
The food resilience program provided investment opportunities, the agriculture ministry`s Secretary General Hari Priyono said here on Tuesday.
“Therefore, we hope investments in the food security field to help accelerate the national food resilience,” he said.
Investment opportunities offered in the agricultural sector included cultivation businesses as well as industrial businesses, he said.
The government invited investors to develop large-scale food estates to support the program, he said.
Indonesia will host an international conference on Crop World South East Asia (CWSEA) 2011 in Jakarta, from November 30 to December 1.
The conference would be participated in by 250 delegates from the ASEAN member countries, and highlighted with an exhibition on agribusiness, Eko Prabowo of the CWSEA organizing committee said.
Agriculture Minister Suswono will be one of the speakers in the conference and talk about the partnership between the government and the private sector in strengthening food resilience.
ASEAN Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan will also speak in the conference to present a report on the results of the upcoming ASEAN Meeting on Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF) which will be organized in Jakarta in October 2011.
