The Japanese government will back its enterprises financially when they bid for an express rail system and waste-treatment project in Hanoi together worth US$607.6 million.
It will lend them 150 million yen (US$1.8 million) to conduct feasibility studies, and more if they win the bids.
The money will come from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) or in the form of official development assistance.
Itochu Corp, Katahira Engineers International, and Central Nippon Expressway Co are among the Japanese firms eyeing the contract to build the 30-km express rail system to connect Hanoi’s suburbs.
Orix Corp and Nippon Koei Co are likely to bid for the waste treatment system, which will transform waste into fertilizers and energy. It will be the first private waste-treatment system to be built in Vietnam.
