Keppel Land CEO Tan Swee Yiow appointed World Green Building Council treasurer

Tan, who was previously president of the Singapore Green Building Council, starts his second term on the WGBC board.

The chief executive of Singapore property developer Keppel Land and the past president of the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC), Tan Swee Yiow, has been appointed treasurer of the board for the World Green Building Council (WGBC).

The WGBC is a United Kingdom-headquartered non-profit that promotes sustainability in the built environment around the world, and SGBC is the equivalent organisation for the local market in Singapore.

Tan’s appointment marks his second term on WGBC’s board of directors. He was previously board director from 2018 to 2020. His role includes a brief to drive awareness of the role green buildings play in mitigating climate change and carbon reduction, and also to promote climate-friendly real estate investing.

In a statement, Tan said that as a Singaporean and part of a Singapore company that is committed to sustainable urbanisation, he wanted to contribute to the WGBC board “with insights on sustainability in Asia, both economically and culturally.”

A long time executive for the Keppel Land Group, the property division of Singapore conglomerate Keppel Corporation, Tan joined the company in 1990. He was apppointed CEO of Keppel Land in January 2019.

Tan was SGBC president from 2017 to 2019, when he was succeed by Dr Ho Nyok Yong, president of Singapore Contractors Association Limited.
