The Third Shenzhen International Low-Carbon City Forum will be held from June 17 to 18 in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, with the theme of “Cities’ Transition to Green and Low-Carbon Development.”
The forum, which consists of a main forum and 13 subforums, aims to provide a platform for promoting international cooperation on low-carbon development and discussing governmental approaches to climate change and sustainable development.
More than 1,500 representatives of governments, international organizations, multinational corporations, think tanks and scientific research agencies from nearly 50 countries and regions worldwide will attend the forum.
The forum will focus on key topics to be raised at the upcoming 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference, which will be held in Paris from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11. The event will also showcase China’s efforts to save energy and reduce emissions in a bid to make practical contributions to addressing global climate change.
A series of low-carbon-themed activities, including an innovative design competition, a climate change exhibition, a low-carbon technology exhibition, new energy vehicle test driving and a low-carbon life carnival will also take place during the forum.
Unlike the two previous Shenzhen International Low-Carbon City Forums, this year’s forum will be open to the public, enabling them to gain more knowledge about low-carbon life and to better understand carbon-lowering practices.
The Shenzhen International Low-Carbon City Forum has played an important role in promoting international cooperation on low-carbon development, showcasing China’s aggressive actions to address climate change and publicizing the results that China has achieved in the course of its green and low-carbon development.
