The third annual Malaysia Developers’ Day, part of the KL Converge digital technology event, will take place on Aug 27 and 28.
This year, the mission for competing teams from across Asia will be to harness, in 24 hours, the Internet of Things (IoT) to build new apps for Connected Life, Connected Car or Connected Home in one of these three categories - community involvement, smart city solutions or commercialisation.
The competition is being organised by AT&T and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
“Winners will share cash prizes worth US$13,000 (about RM49,400) and Nanodegree scholarships worth US$20,000 (about RM76,000) from AT&T and Udacity,” MCMC said in a statement Wednesday.
It said Southeast Asian seed fund Golden State Ventures would also give each winning team six months of mentoring.
“Over the last two years, this event has really showcased Asia developers’ talents. This year, we hope to see even more innovation that will drive our region forward,” said MCMC chief officer for content, security and information Datuk Mohd Ali Hanafiah.
The winning team in each category will get to present their app at the KL Converge gala dinner on Aug 29 where the winner will take home the US$10,000 grand prize.
To be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, KL Converge is jointly organised by the Communications and Multimedia Ministry, MCMC, National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) and Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC).
