The HUDA administrator, Praveen Kumar, said that even as Gurgaon was not a badly planned city, it could be a better planned one. He was speaking at a daylong workshop on “Promoting Green Buildings” here on Tuesday.
Kumar said that there was a need for a separate administrator to deal with the hundreds of builders in the district.
”The problems of Gurgaon are so big that issues such as green buildings, water conservation, solar power harnessing, etc are not given enough time. We need to proactively participate to make the city more sustainable. However, we are playing a very passive role since most of my time is spent attending court cases,” said the administrator.
Architects, developers, green solution providers, energy and water companies, RWAs and NGOs of Gurgaon came together to discuss and deliberate how Gurgaon could take the next steps to promote green buildings in an effort to become a smart and sustainable city. The workshop was organized by Gurgaon First, a citizens’ initiative.
