Pakistani students tap the sun for desalination

Aimed at addressing a shortage of drinking water, two Pakistani engineering students have applied the power of solar energy to a water desalination plant. Aziz Rasheed and Hamza Asgher, students at Hamdard University, have developed the desalination plant using fine quality glass under the supervision of the chair of the school’s Energy Engineering department. They said the use of solar energy is a good alternative given the power shortage in the country.
