Dr Jay Mariyappan, the head of new energy at Malaysian oil and gas giant Petronas, has moved on from the company after three years to join an environmental asset management firm.

Mariyappan joined Petronas in 2018 to launch and run the firm’s renewables division. He also chaired Amplus Energy Solutions, a Singapore-based distributed energy company, which Petronas acquired in 2019.
Mariyappan joined Petronas from Sindicatum, a renewables company now known as Gurīn Energy, where he was managing director, specialising in methane reduction and renewable energy projects.
In his new role as partner at Evolution Environmental Asset Management (EEAM), Mariyappan joins with a brief to build capacity in global carbon reduction and removal projects. He takes on the position of global head of project development and co-portfolio manager.
EEAM is a US-based asset manager that launched in May 2021 with a focus on global carbon offset markets. Mariyappan joins a management team that includes Andrew Ertel, Lawrence Danter, and Benedikt von Butler. He will be based in Singapore.
