Thang Long Thermo-Power Joint-Stock Company on December 29th signed an engineering, procurement and construction contract with a Chinese company to build Thang Long Thermo-Power Plant in Quang Ninh Province.
Due to its design, Thang Long will be considered the most modern and clean thermo-power plant in Vietnam as it will be installed with advanced EFB technology from Alstom, France, which allows the plant to cleanly use low-quality coal and minimise the emission of greenhouse gases.
The whole project will cost US$645 million and is expected to be completed in 45 months’ time.
According to estimates, the Thang Long plant will supply 3.8 billion kWh for the national power grid per year when fully operational.
In addition, it is expected to partially ease the current shortage of power in the country and create some 300 jobs for local people.
