Resorts World Sentosa hires Brian Ho to lead sustainability function

The former Deloitte executive replaces outgoing sustainability head Loh Su Kim at the Singapore-based casino operator.

Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) has appointed Brian Ho from professional services firm Deloitte to lead its sustainability function.

Ho joins the Singapore-based casino and hotels group as vice president, sustainability,

His role will involve integrating the latest environmental, social and governance (ESG) trends into corporate practice, communicating sustainability programmes to external and internal audiences and sustainability reporting.

He takes over the role from Loh Su Kim, who has moved on after more than 10 years with the Genting-owned casino operator, the latter four running its sustainability function.

The Genting-owned company has focused much of its sustainability efforts on marine conservation, funding a biodiversity research programme with the National University of Singapore and a marine biodiversity-themed children’s library. 

RWS has long been targeted by animal welfare groups for housing wild-caught dolphins at its aquarium. In 2023, the firm was called out for running an educational ocean conservation campaign to greenwash its controversial dolphin exhibit at a time of mounting global opposition to keeping the mammals in captivity.

Ho was previously Southeast Asia sustainability leader for Deloitte, a role he held for three years. He moved to Singapore from Hong Kong at the end of 2021 after a seven-year stint with EY, where has was partner, climate change and sustainability services.

Over his career, Ho has worked for sustainability consulting firm CSR Asia, where latterly he was China director based in Beijing, and as a researcher for the City University of Hong Kong’s Southeast Asia Research Centre, the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business in Hong Kong and the Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou. He has a PhD in philosophy.
