Samsung susses out Chinese labour problems

South Korean electronics firm Samsung said on Monday it had found no evidence of child labour violations in the factories of its Chinese suppliers. However, its audit team did find other types of labour violations, including excessive overtime and unfair penalty practices. The audit was done in response to allegations from New York-based NGO China Labour Watch that a Chinese factory supplying parts to Samsung hired children under the age of 16. Auditors inspected 105 Chinese suppliers and plans to finish inspecting an additional 144 suppliers by the end of this year.
