Tang has been appointed head of sustainability strategy, APAC, and moves from Fitch Ratings, where he was global head of ESG research.
Tang will run Schroders’ newly created Regional Centre of Excellence for Sustainability and look to build on Schroders’ sustainable investment proposition with clients across Asia Pacific.
His role will involve leveraging Schroders’ proprietary ESG research and tools, including a new tool for valuing natural capital assets, to help clients meet sustainability targets.
Tang will be working with newly appointed head of ESG integration Wong Dan Chi to build out the APAC sustainability Hub.
He will initially be based in Hong Kong before moving to Singapore.
Tang is one of four environmental, social and governance (ESG) specialists Schroders is looking to hire in Asia by the end of the year in an intense period for ESG recruitment by the region’s financial services groups.
The Singapore-based sustainability team will form part of Schroders’ global sustainability team of 20 specialists, led by global head of sustainable investment Andy Howard.
