Siemens to source wind turbine towers from local Australian supplier

Wind turbine towers for South Australia’s Snowtown II wind farm will be sourced locally and constructed in Whyalla. Siemens said that they are working with E&A Contractors for the manufacture of the 20 wind turbine towers. They said Australian firm E&A has demonstrated its commitment to re-establish the wind tower business for South Australia. With this news, Minister Greg Combet’s office announced that over 80 per cent of wind turbine towers put up in Australia’s wind sector are locally sourced. He said new investments can help regional centres like Whyalla to have both clean technology and jobs from growing manufacturing prospects.
