Green buildings are surely the “in” thing these days for property developers, but they alone are not the only ones doing their part. Software makers are also having their own share of making these sustainable infrastructures possible.
Autodesk, a 3D design engineering and entertainment software specialist, is empowering green building practices in the country through its software solutions and products.
“Everything starts with a concept, with a plan”, said Teddy Tiu, Autodesk Philippines country manager.
“We see rapid urbanization in the country as commercial and residential buildings are being built. With this, we need to make sure that what we build will contribute to the sustainability of the world we live in,” Tiu noted.
With green building efforts and certification in existence, Tiu said that implementing the Building Information Modeling (BIM) through Autodesk’s design solutions in the planning process can help achieve a greener city.
BIM is an intelligent model-based process that provides insight for creating and managing building infrastructure projects faster, more economically, and with less environmental impact.
Autodesk BIM solutions for the building industry are based on models created with Autodesk Revit software that includes solutions for architecture, structural engineering, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering.
“Sustainability is demonstrated throughout what our software enables our customers to do, from reducing reliance on physical prototypes, to enabling architects to make sustainable design decisions earlier in the process through BIM,” Tiu said.
Tiu noted that designers and engineers can create and analyze 3D models that minimize energy use and materials toxicity, and maximize performance of the buildings, infrastructure and products they design through Autodesk software.
“On top of this, Autodesk’s design solutions can help architects, engineers and builders to manage productivity beyond the project duration, helping owners realize benefits throughout the entire project lifecycle,” he said.
Tiu reported that architecture, engineering and construction are the biggest segment of Autodesk market in the Philippines.
Autodesk, Inc has customers across the manufacturing, architecture, building, construction, and media and entertainment industries globally.
The company introduced in 1982 the AutoCAD software, a software application used for computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting in 2D and 3D.
