CSR Asia & Prudence Foundation host third Disaster Preparedness Forum

Asia’s prominent meeting place for the business, government and humanitarian sectors to discuss coordinated efforts for disaster preparedness, response and recovery is back on July 02 2015 in Hanoi, Vietnam.

With increasing damages and losses from natural disasters in the Asia-Pacific, the recent earthquakes in Nepal provide yet another reminder of the need for cross-sector cooperation in building preparedness to natural disasters. Coordinated efforts between business, NGOs and governments are needed to make communities safer and significantly reduce post-disaster recovery spending, damages and losses.

Hosted by CSR Asia and Prudence Foundation, thought leaders from across the region will help build understanding of the role of business in the humanitarian response system and engage participants in a discussion on the value of partnerships.

Speakers for 2015 include:

  • Chairman, Prudence Corporation Asia
  • Regional Director for Asia-Pacific, UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA)
  • President, Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation
  • Country Director,Action Aid Myanmar
  • Acting Regional Director - SE & E Asia Region, Save the Children
  • APG Programme Manager, Oxfam

CSR Asia Chairman Richard Welford says “We aim to create an interactive platform for the Asia Pacific disaster community, which allows businesses and organisations to come together to share best practice and explore lessons from past disasters in the context of the region. First and foremost, it is a practical forum that helps organisations to connect and form partnerships. We strongly believe that cross-sector partnerships are the way forward to bring about innovative, effective solutions and ensure business contributions are making the best impact they can – both for the communities and the business.”
