Six students have recently been awarded with Glencore Xstrata Energy Leader scholarships. The students have started the International Energy Centre’s Master of Energy Studies and each has demonstrated the potential to develop their expertise and influence in the energy sector in the years ahead.
In presenting the awards, Peter Freyberg (Head of Coal Assets at Glencore) said: “Effective energy policy is critical to every country’s economic, socio-economic and environmental wellbeing. Increasing people’s understanding in these areas is vital to informed decision making on a range of complex issues that impact the lives and wellbeing of millions of people around the world, in developed and developing countries alike. The Master of Energy Studies provides high calibre students with in-depth knowledge that should serve to inform future energy-related discussion across a range of industry sectors.”
Together with The University of Queensland, The University of Western Australia and The University of Newcastle, Glencore Xstrata is a foundation member of the International Energy Centre.
The Master of Energy Studies (CRICOS code 073264E at the University of Queensland) is a highly innovative program providing a unique trans-disciplinary, co-badged, industry focused Master’s degree for professionals seeking to have an impact on the transition to a low carbon future.
