revolv presents the Tiong Bahru Takeover, a reusable cup-sharing event promoting the circular economy and reducing single-use waste, taking place on 24 - 25 August 2019.

For this weekend only, revolv is working with four cafe partners in Tiong Bahru to enable customers to get their takeaway coffee in a reusable cup instead of generating waste from single-use.

The Tiong Bahru branches of Creamier, Forty Hands, Merci Marcel, and Plain Vanilla Bakery are taking part in this event to promote reuse, and are all generously offering $1 discounts for all drinks served in revolv coffee cups, an offer exclusive to this weekend.

This will be the first time in Singapore that multiple cafes have taken part in a reusable cup-sharing system across different sites, and represents the first stage in revolv’s plans to provide more permanent systems for reuse across the city.

On both days of the weekend, revolv will be stationed outside the four aforementioned cafes in Tiong Bahru - from 7 am to 7 pm. Customers can borrow a revolv reusable coffee cup by paying a fully refundable deposit of $8 per cup. Payment is accepted using PayNow or cash.

We’re really excited to work with fantastic cafes to pilot our reusable cup-sharing system here, reduce waste, and test demand for a longer-term solution that hardwires sustainability into our way of life.

Jonathan Tostevin, chief development, revolv

Customers can get their cup to-go and use it as many times as they wish throughout the weekend. They can return it to any of the revolv stations before 7pm on 25 August (Sunday) to get their full deposit back. Revolv handles all transactions related to the cup, and commercially cleans and sanitises all cups before and after use.

Made of toughened glass and silicone, the plastic-free reusable coffee cup is not only a healthier and stylish choice for customers to take away their drinks with, but also helps save single-use waste.

Jonathan Tostevin, Chief Development, revolv says “We love our coffee in Singapore but our takeaway lifestyle generates huge amounts of waste that we can’t recycle. We’re really excited to work with fantastic cafes to pilot our reusable cup-sharing system here, reduce waste, and test demand for a longer-term solution that hardwires sustainability into our way of life”.

Founded based on a deep passion for perfecting dessert craftsmanship and creating honest, thoughtful experiences for all, Creamier is known for its small-batch production methods and use of carefully-sourced ingredients to create delicious ice creams. The Creamier Handcrafted philosophy is grounded on the idea that the magic of making good ice cream is nothing more than using quality ingredients, lots of hard work, and having a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and perfection.

About Forty Hands

With the opening of Forty Hands in 2010, the beginnings of a Singaporean coffee revolution started to brew. Taking its name from the 40 hands it takes to produce a coffee from bean to cup, the cafe breathed new life into the once sleepy neighbourhood of Tiong Bahru with it’s delicious specialty coffee, tasty Australian style brunch and friendly, personal service. Decorated in an eclectic style to reflect the quirky nature and neighbourly vibe of Tiong Bahru, 40 Hands has a custom made Synesso coffee machine, comfy corners for private brunches and large sharing tables to enjoy with friends. Come in, enjoy a brew and say hi when you’re next in the neighbourhood!

About Merci Marcel

Merci Marcel presents a unique lifestyle concept that brings relaxed French social dining to the table. Both an all-day dining destination and an independent boutique, Merci Marcel establishes its bohemian point of view and embraces the artisanal spirit in its curated offerings that span gourmet food, fine drinks, art and lifestyle products.

About Plain Vanilla Bakery

Plain Vanilla Bakery is an independent bakery founded in 2011 with the intent to be a reminder of the contentment and goodness of a good old-fashioned piece of cake. Their methods are traditional and their bakes familiar and comforting. Each of their treats is crafted on site at their flagship bakery at Tiong Bahru, every batch lovingly made from scratch in small quantities with the best ingredients they can find.
