TÜV Rheinland dedicated to Chinese solar energy industry with belief in the future illuminated by photovoltaic

The 6th International Solar Industry and Photovoltaic Exhibition and Conference, the most influential event of its type in Asia, was recently held at the Shanghai International Expo Centre. As one of the leading testing and certification organisations in the world, the TÜV Rheinland Group exhibited its latest certification and testing services in the photovoltaic (PV) field in a spacious booth. TÜV Rheinland PV experts and technical engineers from China and abroad interacted with attendees and provided face-to-face consultation services.

During the process of market integration in recent years, the Chinese PV industry has become increasingly mature. Under China’s Twelfth Five-Year-Plan, favourable government policies have provided support for the use of green energy. At the same time, a rapid decline in the prices of component products and high levels of competition have accelerated the development of the PV market. Reducing production costs, applying new technologies and ensuring overall quality have become critical factors in determining competitive advantage.

The TÜV Rheinland Group certifies more than 80% of photovoltaic products in the world. With a top-end global service network, extensive experience and an unmatched reputation in the PV testing field, we are dedicated to providing Chinese enterprises with localised testing for PV components and continuously improving our service quality to help domestic enterprises conveniently enter markets worldwide.

To meet industry demand and provide better services to local customers, TÜV Rheinland also offers solar cell testing for cell manufacturers and purchasers, the only international third-party testing and certification body to do so in China at present. Ulrike Therhaag, Solar Energy and Fuel Cell Technical Director of TÜV Rheinland Greater China, commented that “our customers enjoy localised quick service and professional technical support while saving time in the production chain, shortening the product delivery period and effectively bringing down the production cost. With the expanding capacity of our global laboratory, we are also confident in helping Chinese PV enterprises to keep pace with their European counterparts in technical innovation.”

She went on to mention that “TÜV Rheinland PV experts are cooperating with local PV enterprises to overcome technical challenges and fully support further development in PV technologies. We believe that PV will be one of the main energy sources in the future”.

The TÜV Rheinland Group has been in China for 25 years and employs 3,000 staff locally. In early 2011, the Group started using an advanced comprehensive testing building in Shanghai. Approximately 800 employees work in the building, which covers an area of around 17,000 m2 and contains testing laboratories for various products. As one of the largest and most advanced testing facilities in Asia, it provides services for consumer products, mechanical engineering and solar energy manufacturers.
