Yamazaki Mazak and Cleantech Solar have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) which will see the deployment of a 1.6MWp solar system on the rooftop of the company’s plant located in Joo Koon, Singapore.
The system will cover an area of about 16,000 square meters with Cleantech Solar taking full responsibility and costs for the installation, operation, monitoring and maintenance of the system.
The electricity generated on site will save Yamazaki Mazak through cheaper rates compared to grid supply. In addition, the shading effect of the solar panels onto the roof is also expected to reduce the energy consumption of the plant which is fully air-conditioned due to the demands of the high-precision machining activities.
This is a testimony of Yamazaki Mazak’s commitment to its environmental policy but also demonstrates that driving sustainability today can also make good business sense.
Raju Shukla, Chairman of Cleantech Solar stated: “It is an honor for us to have been selected by Yamazaki Mazak for this long-term partnership. For almost one hundred years, the group has delivered excellence and high-integrity engineering and that reflects our own focus on strong financials, longevity and best-in-class technical performance”.
Cleantech Solar will fund the entire investment and will draw on the deep expertise of its engineering and project teams to implement this system. Yamazaki Mazak will also benefit from Cleantech Solar’s cutting-edge monitoring and performance display solutions during the full life of the agreement.
