Rhick Lars Vladimer Albay is a writer and journalist based in Iloilo City, Philippines. His byline has appeared in several regional and international publications including ANCX, Rappler, Esquire Philippines and the International Business Times, among others. He currently writes for Singapore-based media organisation Eco-Business.
He is a fellow of the Earth Journalism Network’s Biodiversity Media Initiative and USAID Sustainable Interventions for Biodiversity, Oceans and Landscapes’ (SIBOL) Green Beat Plus project – as well as programmes led by the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, Thomson Reuters Foundation and the Sunway Centre for Planetary Health.
His work has received recognition from the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) Asian Digital Media Awards, the Globe Media Excellence Awards, the University of the Philippines Visayas Bantala Media Excellence Awards, the Paglaum Media Excellence Awards, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, AnakTV and the Embassy of Chile, among others. He also contributed to a piece shortlisted by the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Awards in 2023. He is a former Vice President for the Visayas of the College Editors Guild of the Philippines.
