Michiel is ADB's focal point for sanitation. He has a background in international relations and diplomacy, with the Netherlands Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Before joining ADB, Michiel was the Netherlands' deputy head for international water affairs, and has mainly been working in Asia.
