About This Course

ESG and Sustainability in Asia: A Business Strategy is an essential capacity building programme targeted at business leaders and professionals who want to deepen their knowledge and application of ESG strategies for business performance.

Led by our established and experienced sustainability advisors – Jessica Cheam and Junice Yeo – this unique two-day course will teach participants how to understand and implement ESG trends and frameworks, build organisational resilience, identify new business opportunities, and craft credible communication strategies to avoid potential greenwash.

Demystifying Net Zero, the Circular Economy and Why They Matter

  • Understanding net zero and circular economy concepts, how they intersect, and practical applications with a business lens
  • Hands-on learning using a GHG emissions tool to calculate carbon emissions

Sustainability Materiality, Strategy and Communications

  • Introduction to materiality, and how it applies to businesses
  • Overview of sustainability reporting, disclosure and certification frameworks (e.g. GRI, TCFD, ISSB, B Corp) and ESG data management

Managing Sustainability Risks and Opportunities

  • Understanding risk management from an ESG perspective

1. What is the Enterprise Sustainability Programme?

The Enterprise Sustainability Programme (ESP) supports Singapore businesses to build capabilities in sustainability and capture new opportunities in the green economy. As part of the initiatives under the ESP, Enterprise Singapore has partnered industry players to conduct a series of ESP Sustainability Courses to help businesses build awareness and knowledge in sustainability. 2. What is the ESP Foundational Course?

The ESP Foundational Course aims to equip business leaders with basic awareness and knowledge of sustainability, and serves as a foundation for businesses seeking to build capabilities for the green economy and develop a plan for sustainability efforts. Participants are provided access to tools and resources to assess the current sustainability readiness and performance of their businesses.

Eco-Business’ ESG and Sustainability in Asia: A Business Strategy is part of the ESP Foundational Course series.

3. What are the eligibility criteria for EnterpriseSG’s 70% course subsidy?

  • Subsidised course fee of SG$450 (not inclusive of GST) per participant is only applicable to nominees from local companies1 and trade associations (TACs)2
  • Each eligible entity will be supported for up to a maximum of 3 participants for each type of ESP Sustainability Course3
  • Each individual will only be supported once for each type of ESP Sustainability Course3
  • The company or TAC is liable to make full payment for the course fees if it or its participants are found to be ineligible or fail to complete the course.

1 Business entities registered and operating in Singapore. This excludes: (a) non-profit organisations and charities (registered as public companies limited by guarantee); and (b) foreign companies operating in Singapore (registered as branch or representative offices).
2 TACs will need to fulfil the following criteria: a) registered with Registry of Societies (ROS) or Accounting & Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA); and b) defined as a non-profit organisation.
3 There are currently three types of ESP Sustainability Courses: Foundational, Decarbonisation, and Sustainable Financing. Please refer to the ESP website here for the list of courses under each course type.

4. Do I need to provide any supporting documents to prove my eligibility for EnterpriseSG’s 70% course subsidy?

You will be requested to submit the following documents during registration:

  • Latest company ACRA business profile (if the company is a subsidiary, please submit the ACRA of the parent company too)
  • Signed declaration form by nominating organization. Download the declaration form.

5. Are there any other subsidies that I can tap on for this course?

Other than the 70% course subsidy under the Enterprise Sustainability Programme, Eco-Business is offering a 30% discount for employees of non-profit organisations, institutes of higher learning or government agencies who are not eligible for EnterpriseSG’s 70% subsidy.

6. When will I receive the course subsidy?

Eligible participants will enjoy the subsidy upfront and are only required to pay the subsidised or discounted course fees upon registration. However, they may be required to make full payment for the course if found to ineligible or fail to complete the course.

7. Are there any pre-requisites for this course?

There are no pre-requisites for this course.

8. Who should attend this course?

This course is targeted at senior and mid-level professionals who want to deepen their knowledge on the latest business and ESG trends, and how to apply it in their job functions across strategy, sustainability, finance, risk management, operations, human resources, marketing, communications and more.

We also welcome all other participants to join the course to learn about essentials in sustainability, or as a refresher to keep their pulse on the latest sustainability trends.

9. Is this course open to participants outside of Singapore?

Yes, this course is purposed for executives globally, with a focus on Asia Pacific. Our training materials include relevant regional case studies, and we will be referencing key regulatory developments in key Asian markets in our course.

10. Why should I attend this course? How is this course different from other sustainability essentials courses?

In addition to a comprehensive and interactive training on sustainability and ESG essentials, Eco-Business will tap on our expertise in regional trends and developments, as well as our media perspective for the training. Participants will also be given the opportunity to try out the sustainability self-assessment toolkit to help assess their organisation’s progress in the sustainability journey thus far.

11. Can I send more than 3 participants from my organization to attend this course?

Only the first 3 nominated participants will be able to enjoy the subsidized course fee of SG$450 per person. Subsequent participants will be required to pay the full course fee amount at SG$1,500 per person.

12. What is the sustainability self-assessment toolkit?

The sustainability self-assessment toolkit is a questionnaire for participants to determine the level of sustainability readiness of their questionnaire. The toolkit will provide a gap assessment result and highlight areas of improvement, and areas where the organization excels in. Organisations are invited to book a one-time complimentary review with Eco-Business to discuss the results and insights from the assessment.

13. When will registration close?

Registration will close 2 weeks before the commencement of the course, as time is needed to verify the documents with EnterpriseSG for subsidised participants.

14. What counts as completion of the course?

Course completion would be based on:

  • Participants’ attendance for the course
  • Completion of the sustainability self-assessment toolkit
  • Award of the Certificate of Completion
  • Submission of post-course evaluation / survey form
