Air pollution unites China and Japan

In the most optimistic diplomatic announcement for some time, China and Japan have agreed to “promote technical cooperation and explore further measures for dealing with harmful air pollution”.

China explained its measures for fighting the pollution and agreed to look at technical assistance from Japan, as Tokyo worries that hazardous particulate matter 2.5 microns — 2.5 thousandths of a millimeter — or less in diameter would drift over the country.
