Australia on way to 85 per cent renewables by 2050

About 40 per cent of Australia’s energy needs could be supplied by renewable energy sources by 2035, according to the Australian government. According to their energy white paper, this number could still ramp up to 85 per cent by 2050. The white paper outlined Australia’s plan to develop renewable energy and natural gas to veer away from its dependency on coal. The shift to renewables would require over A$200 billion in investments in new power stations and infrastructure, added the energy report.
