Carbon capture technology: Alternative for the meantime?

Environmental lobbyists have backed the use of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology at the UN climate conference in Doha. Global CCS Institute, a network of 17 environmental groups, said that the CCS technology is necessary to stem the rising global emissions. The group said while many environmentalists do not subscribe to the burning of fossil fuels, they also recognise that greenhouse gas emissions will still continue for decades to come. The CCS, they said, will at least keep some of those harmful emissions out of the atmosphere.
