Coming soon: Eco-labels for renewables

WindMade - the “eco-labelling” system for wind energy - is planning to branch out soon to solar, geothermal, hydropower and biomass. In a press conference at the Doha climate talks, the WindMade Organzation said that they are now focusing on promoting not just wind energy but all renewables. Launched in 2011, the WindMade label is for corporations that use wind power for at least 25 per cent of their energy consumption. Some companies that have adopted the WindMade label on their products are Motorola, Deutsche Bank, Bloomberg, and Widex. WindMade said they will form a technical committee to determine the specific criteria they will set for the other renewable sectors
