Environmental groups dismayed at US inaction in Doha

The US has doused high expectations that it will finally end its blockade of a UN climate deal. After one and a half weeks of climate negotiations, US climate envoys still did not budge from their old positions as in previous COPs. Samantha Smith of the World Wide Fund for Nature said the consequence is that other nations are also hiding behind US inaction. Kumi Naidoo of Greenpeace said for their part that US President Barack Obama has come down with a severe case of cognitive dissonance and his envoys show a fundamental ignorance of public opinion in the US and the rest of the world.
