EU green business solutions introduced in Vietnam

The European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) held a press conference in Hanoi on September 7 to launch the GreenBiz exhibition and conference on EU green business solutions (GreenBiz 2011).

GreenBiz focuses on Vietnamese Government and businesses and aims to support them with specific solutions to tackle climate change, energy issues and environmental challenges.

Eurocham-Vietnam Managing Director, Matthias Duhn, said Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies in Asia. Vietnam’s average GDP has reached 7 percent over the past 10 years with GDP per capita of more than US$1,100 in 2010. As the country’s economy develops more foreign direct investment pours into Vietnam as the global business community’s belief increases. However, economic growth brings its own problems as Vietnam is now one of the countries most seriously affected by climate change. Therefore, it is high time for the country to implement sustainable development solutions, Duhn said.

The second GreenBiz exhibition will analyse challenges and propose solutions for Vietnam’s sustainable development.

GreenBiz will focus on sustainable cities, green manufacturing and climate change and energy supply.

EuroCham Chairman Alain Cany said GreenBiz is Vietnam’s largest event on sustainable and green business solutions. It aims to link Vietnamese and European businesses to discuss Vietnam’s future development. The event also supports the country’s sustainable development through encouraging investment in clean technologies.

The event will take place at the White Palace in Ho Chi Minh City on September 15-16.
