Exora’s Range-Extender’s glory speaks of Proton’s standards

The Proton Exora Range-Extender Electric Vehicle (REEV)’s has tied as the “Best Overall REEV” with another world class automotive manufacturer at the second 2011 Brighton to London Future Car Challenge, an achievement that speaks volume of Proton’s standards and capabilities in this field.

Proton Group Managing Director Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said Exora REEV’s victory last year as the Best E-Rev Vehicle was a surprise, thus Proton was determined not to take that victory for granted, this year.

The Exora REEV was announced joint winner with the 2012 Toyota Prius plug-in petrol hybrid as the “Best Overall Extender Range/Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle” and “The Most Energy Efficient Multi-Purpose Car-Prototype” at Britain’s Royal Automobile Club (RAC) 2011 Future Car Challenge which ended here on Sunday.

“For the Exora REEV to come up victorious once again this year, with two more additional awards to its name is truly a remarkable achievement for Proton,” he said in a statement today.

He was elated at Persona Elegance REEV’s debut in this competition, which was a testament of Proton’s capability in assembling a green technology vehicle without the usual assistance from technical partner Frazer-Nash Research Limited.

“It signifies the effectiveness of the technology transfer to our engineers as one of the benefits of this strategic collaboration.

Syed Zainal also thanked Proton’s team of engineers and drivers, and Frazer-Nash for all their commitment and dedication in charting Proton’s development of its Green Technology vehicles.

“I believe they have worked very hard for this victory and they truly deserve it. They have made us, Proton and Malaysians, truly proud.

“We are truly humbled by this experience,” he said.

Syed Zainal also thanked the government for its support and trust in the Fleet Test Vehicle Programme which had really helped Proton progress in this field.

“Proton would walk away from this competition, more determined and more committed than it had ever been, in its commitment to be better and its pursuit to remain relevant in the ever changing landscape of the global automotive industry,” he added.
