Hills Holdings has teamed up to enable local homeowners to access the latest in power generation technology.
Victorian firm Ceramic Fuel Cell’s BlueGen units - the size of a dishwasher uses fuel cell technology to convert natural gas into electricity and heat - will be sold, installed and serviced by Hills Holdings.
The partnership will help CFC’s push into the home market, estimated at several hundred thousand units.
CFC managing director Brendan Dow was confident there were more opportunities to collaborate with Hills on BlueGen’s manufacturing and supply-chain.
“Hills designs, develops and makes its own appliances and solar products, so there are also longer term strategic opportunities for us.”
The latest product fits well with Hills’ wide range of home, hardware and eco products, electronic security and entertainment and building and industrial products.
CFC says each BlueGen unit can produce twice the electricity needed to power an average Australian home.
The partnership with Hills is similar to the one CFC has with Neco in Victoria and Harvey Norman in New South Wales and the ACT.
In December, Ceramic Fuel Cells installed a BlueGen unit at the Adelaide Central Market in Gouger Street - part of the free electric vehicle charging station.
No one from Hills Holdings, which will also decide the sale price of the unit, was available for comment.
