About 75 per cent of factories in industrial zones in the central province of Quang Ngai do not have their own waste-water treatment systems, according to director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Le My Lien.
Lien said the waste was being released directly into the environment without being treated, as ordered by local authorities.
Only one of three industrial zones in the province has been reported to have built waste treatment systems.
