Malaysia bares sustainability goals

In keeping with its international commitment to reduce its carbon emissions, Malaysia is developing clean technology, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in his 1Malaysia blog. He said the country is working hard to towards its 40 per cent reduction target in emissions intensity by 2020. Malaysia, he said, intends to grow and diversify its local renewable energy sector to be able to lead the low carbon economy of the future. Apart from renewables, Najib said the country is also looking into developing sustainable cities and transportation such as the billion-dollar eco-city Iskandar Malaysia and the Southeast Asia high-speed rail network to connect Kuala Lumpur with Singapore then with China.
