Malaysian manufacturers urged to take note of Thailand’s green & eco-friendly market demand

Malaysian manufacturers should take note of the rise in demand for green and eco-friendly products and systems in Thailand, says the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade).

This is due to the growing trend of eco-friendly office buildings and hotels in the country which are implementing green technologies.

In a statement today, Matrade said this growing trend towards eco-friendly buildings, opens up new opportunities for Malaysian companies, as they can enter Thailand’s market by supplying eco-friendly building materials and furniture.

“Green products that Malaysian companies can supply include, air and water care systems, cleaners and degreasers, energy-efficient electrical systems and appliances, environmental-friendly materials, water-efficient equipment and water usage systems.

“Malaysians can also supply carbon monoxide monitoring systems for underground car parks and systems to harvest waste water and rain water to provide irrigation,” it added.

Matrade also advised Malaysian exporters to use various distribution channels to market their consumer electrical products in Thailand, such as its established base of hypermarket outlets.

“As there is a growing trend among Thai consumers to use e-commerce to purchase household electrical items, we are also advising exporters to use the Internet to sell and promote their products.

“Thailand’s Internet user base is expected to grow by a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of eight per cent annually over the next five years,” Matrade added.
