Maynilad plans to build 3 reservoirs

In preparation for the dry months, water concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) said it plans to build three modular water reservoirs this year to further enhance water supply reliability in vulnerable communities in its concession area.

Maynilad president and CEO Ricky Vargas said Maynilad has set aside some P110 million for the establishment of the new facilities in Quezon City.

Once completed, the three reservoirs will have a combined holding capacity of 10 million liters (ML) which will benefit nearly 12,000 households.

Due to high location, some areas in Quirino and Roosevelt in Quezon City are often affected by water supply reductions from Angat Dam.

Vargas said through these infrastructure investments, the company can store more water during off-peak periods for distribution to its customers when there is high demand.

“We want to improve water supply reliability in Quirino and Roosevelt at the soonest possible time so we are adopting modular designs in building these reservoirs,” added Vargas.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is a concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres & Sta Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congres s ional , Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit & Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Hiway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; Cavite City, and the towns of Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
