Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak wants the Federal administration centre transformed into a green, smart and connected city to showcase Malaysia’s economic and technological advancements.
This, the Prime Minister said, would be a follow-up feat to the Perdana Putra building achieving a Platinum rating in the Green Building Index (GBI).
“Perdana Putra is one of the most energy-efficient buildings in Malaysia and has been categorised as a high-performance green building. It is my intention that it become a catalyst for similar initiatives across the country,” Najib said.
Perdana Putra, the Prime Minister’s Department Complex, is a six-storey building comprising a main block with east and west wings.
“Beyond Perdana Putra, I would like to see the entire city of Putrajaya transformed into a green, smart and connected city that will showcase our economic and technological advancements,” he said at the GBI Platinum Certification handing-over ceremony here yesterday.
The certificate was handed by KFM Holdings Sdn Bhd group chief executive Nurolamin Abas to Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa.
GBI is Malaysia’s recognised green rating tool for buildings to promote sustainability in the urban environment and raise awareness among developers, architects, engineers, planners, designers, contractors and the public.
Perdana Putra is the first successful large-scale upgrading of an existing building on a private finance initiative module undertaken by KFM Holdings Sdn Bhd.
